Hinsdale Central High School welcomes new principal

HINSDALE – After multiple meetings with students, community members, administration and the Hinsdale Township High School District 86 Board of Education and superintendent, Mark Kolkman has been selected to lead Hinsdale Central High School as its principal.

The Board of Education approved Kolkman’s appointment at Monday's meeting.

Kolkman has worked for more than a decade as an administrator in schools in DuPage County. Since July 2008, Kolkman has served as an assistant principal at Neuqua Valley High School in Naperville, specializing in both operations and student services.

Prior to his tenure at Neuqua Valley, he worked as an assistant principal for one year at Glenbard East High School in Lombard after serving the school for four years as its athletic director. Kolkman’s teaching and non-administrative roles include nine years at Naperville Central High School as a teacher, coach and assistant athletic director and one year as a teacher and coach at Herscher High School in Herscher, Ill.

Kolkman earned his doctorate in education from Aurora University, his master’s degree in educational leadership from North Central College and his bachelor’s degree from Olivet Nazarene University.

A public reception for Kolkman will take place from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday at the Hinsdale Central High School Community Room.
