WEST CHICAGO – West Chicago resident Scott Rice had his dreams come true when he scratched an Illinois Millions instant lottery ticket and won $4 million.
“Two weeks ago I had a dream that I scratched a lottery ticket and won millions," Rice said in a news release from the Illinois Lottery. "It was so real that I woke up and looked around for the ticket.”
Rice bought the winning ticket after talking to a security guard at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, who told him he had purchased a winning ticket from a local 7-Eleven.
“He told me that the local 7-Eleven sold a $2,000 winning Illinois Millions ticket, so I thought I should try my luck there and buy one," Rice said in the release.
A 15-year West Chicago resident, Rice plans to keep his sales job at the electrical supply company where he has worked for 30 years.
Rice, who is married with four children, plans to invest and share his winnings with family.
"We'll also donate to charity, because we believe it's important to give back," he said.
Rice purchased his winning ticket at a 7-Eleven at 0S027 Winfield Road in Winfield. Because the store sold a winning ticket, it will receive a $40,000 bonus, or 1 percent of the prize amount.
Illinois Millions is a $20 instant ticket with a top prize of $4 million. Another prize of $4 million is still available.
