BULL VALLEY – Officials were expecting paws on the ground as early as Thursday evening as the village's new dog park opened for a late-fall trial run.
The city has announced pricing for the park, a joint effort between Bull Valley and Woodstock located at Country Club Road and Bull Valley Road. The official opening is Jan. 1.
"We're excited to see it open and going," Bull Valley Trustee Emily Berendt said.
Residents of either municipality can pay $60 a year for up to two dogs, and can pay extra to add up to two more dogs to the permit.
Residents can also choose to purchase a 10-year charter membership for $500, saving $100 over the course of the membership while steering clear of any price increases. Only 50 charter memberships will be sold.
Non-resident permits cost $125 a year.
Bull Valley – which is splitting the estimated $25,000 cost of the seven-acre dog park with neighboring Woodstock – will maintain the park with permit and daily fees, officials have said.
So far, no limit has been set on how many resident or non-resident permits will be sold, Berendt said.
"We will keep going until it starts to look like we need to restrict, if that indeed happens," she said.
