Gurnee police search for suspect in bank robbery

The Gurnee Police Department continues to search for information regarding a Nov. 14 robbery at Community Trust Credit Union, 1313 N. Route 41, and is asking for the public's help.

According to a release, the police department received a report of an armed robbery in progress at the bank at 1:44 p.m. Nov. 14. The first officers to arrive learned that the suspect had fled the area on foot with an undetermined amount of cash.
A perimeter was set up and a search of the area was conducted with the help of Gurnee's K-9 and the Law Enforcement Aviation Coalition's Air-One helicopter. Viking Junior High, Warren Township High School's O'Plaine Campus, and River Trail School were placed on soft lockdown while the search was conducted, according to the release.

The suspect was not located and no injuries were reported.

The suspect was described as a male black, medium build, 5-10, wearing darker jeans, white shoes with black trim, and a red hooded sweatshirt with a white ski mask pulled down over his face, according to the release. The sweatshirt had white writing on the shoulder and front and an emblem on top of the hood, according to the release. The suspect implied he had a weapon, but did not display one, according to the release.
