NIU officials: Woman jumped from parking deck

DeKALB – A woman in her late teens or early 20s died Friday, about 30 minutes after she jumped from Northern Illinois University's parking deck.

Authorities were called to the parking deck on Carroll Avenue about 2:40 p.m. They provided CPR at the scene and took her to Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb, according to an NIU news release. Foul play is not suspected.

NIU police declined to release the victim's name, at the request of her family, but said she was not an NIU student or employee. They described her as a white woman weighing between 120 and 130 pounds with brown hair, the release states. She was wearing a multi-colored jacket and blue long sleeved shirt.

Kishwaukee Hospital officials confirmed her death at 3:17 p.m., NIU officials said.
