MORRIS – Funeral services have been set for Thursday for the Morris woman who drowned after her vehicle went into a pond.

Authorities say Constance, “Connie” Stacy, 53, of Morris, drowned after her vehicle was found late Friday night in a pond along Anne Lane.

“There was nothing found in the exam that would support anything but drowning,” Grundy County Coroner John Callahan said Monday.

An investigation is still pending, but the preliminary cause is drowning, he said.

How the vehicle ended up on the pond is still being investigated, said Harvey Van Cleave, Morris police chief deputy. Morris police and the Grundy County Sheriff's Department are working on the investigation.

Stacy's family owns That Perennial Place in Morris.

Visitation for Stacy will be Thursday from 3 p.m. until the time of the 7 p.m. Memorial Service at the U.C. Davis-Callahan Funeral Home, 301 W Washington St., according to the obituary sent by the funeral home.

A vehicle was found in a retention pond along Anne Lane with a female inside Friday night. The woman was removed from the vehicle by Morris Police and taken to Morris Hospital by Morris EMS, where she was pronounced dead in the emergency room just after midnight.

Stacy was alone in the vehicle at the time of the incident. Morris Police said the emergency call came in at 11:47 p.m. Friday.

Morris Fire Protection and Ambulance District also is assisting in the investigation.
