Possession of burglary tools
Willie E. Jones, Jr., 44, of the 1900 block of Fourth Avenue, Maywood, was charged at 3:51 a.m. Sept. 13 in the 3600 block of Rosemear Avenue with possession of burglary tools, resisting a police officer and two counts of criminal damage to property after allegedly attempting to break into a garage and then running away from a police officer. Police reportedly found tools used to execute a burglary and two Illinois license plates in Jones’ vehicle.
Possession of cannabis, criminal trespass
Jason S. Broughton, 35, of the 4400 block of Deyo Avenue, was charged with possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal trespass Sept. 14 after allegedly walking through the backyard of the house he was evicted from the day prior.
TV stolen from garage
A TV valued at $500 was discovered to be stolen at 5:45 p.m. Sept. 8 from a garage in the 3100 block of Raymond Avenue. The service door to the garage had been left unlocked.
Tools stolen from garage
Approximately $300 in tools were stolen, as discovered at 7 p.m. Sept. 10, from a garage in the 3700 block of Morton Avenue. The owner said he leaves the service door unlocked most of the time but did not know if it was unlocked when his tools were stolen.
Paint poured on vehicles
White paint was found at 12:28 a.m. Sept. 11 on two vehicles parked at a residence in the 4100 block of Vernon Avenue. Police issued a special watch for the residence.
Cable line cut
Someone cut a telephone line and pulled the fuse of an air conditioning unit late Sept. 4 in the backyard of a residence in the 9100 block of 30 th Street. The resident had the telephone line repaired, but it was cut again Sept. 11.
Bench damaged at school
A bench was damaged between 1:30 p.m. Sept. 14 and 6:38 a.m. Sept. 16 outside S.E. Gross Middle School.
Little League shed door damaged
A door to a shed belonging to the Brookfield Little League was damaged between 7:30 p.m. Sept. 13 and 8:15 a.m. Sept. 14 at Ehlert Park.
LYONS
Two men charged for punching taxi driver, fighting police officer
Zachary T. Bernal, 23, of the 7300 block of Oakwood Avenue, and Brent L. Bernal, 25, of the 19200 block of Puritan Drive, Mokena, were charged with aggravated battery to a police officer, aggravated assault, criminal damage to property and resisting a police officer at 3:11 a.m. Sept. 15. They rode home from Chicago in a taxi along with two other men, and upon arrival, one of the four men punched the taxi driver in the face and threw a $50 bill at him. The driver reported the incident to police and later identified the two men charged after they were arrested in the 7300 block of Oakwood Avenue. Both men resisted arrest and Zachary T. Bernal kicked a police officer in the chest, according to police reports.
Battery, criminal damage to property
John J. Jocius, 31, of the 5500 block of South 47 th Avenue, Summit, was charged with two counts of battery and two counts of criminal damage to property at 12:54 a.m. Sept. 16 after allegedly punching his landlord's wife and son and damaging a window and shoe rack.
DUI
• Timothy Phipps, 48, of the 4400 block of Maple Avenue, Stickney, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after driving through a red light and crashing into a curb. He then reportedly continued to drive and was pulled over at 10:27 p.m. Sept. 13 in the 7800 block of 47 th Street. Phipps was also charged with leaving the scene of an accident earlier the same night in the 4600 block of Winchester Avenue, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, driving without headlights, disobeying a traffic signal and improper lane usage.
Ex-employee buys food on boss’s credit card
Nemanja G. Mesanovic, 28, of the 1600 block of Forest Road, La Grange Park, was charged with felony unlawful use of account numbers for ordering at least $340 in food for himself and his family using a credit card number belonging to his former employer. He was arrested at approximately 9 p.m. Sept. 11.
Outdoor fireplace stolen
An outdoor fireplace was stolen, as reported at 8:51 p.m. Sept. 12, from a backyard in the 8700 block of Plainfield Road.
Wallet stolen from gym locker
A wallet containing $150 in cash was stolen at approximately 9 p.m. Sept. 12 from a men’s locker at XSport Fitness, 3940 Harlem Ave. A combination lock was cut to gain access to the locker.

DUI
• Anthony J. Gonzalez, 30, of Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after being pulled over for speeding at 5:37 a.m. Sept. 15 at Ogden and Wisconsin avenues. His blood alcohol concentration was measured at .139.
• Eddie L. Baez, 23, of Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after a traffic stop at 3:48 a.m. Sept. 14 at Harlem Avenue and 26th Street. His blood alcohol concentration was measured at .170
