Sea Lion Show, Road Rally Racing highlights of season at water park

YORKVILLE, Ill. — Raging Waves, Illinois’ largest waterpark, opens for its sixth season today, Saturday, May 25, with two exciting new attractions on tap for this summer.

The 45-acre family-friendly entertainment park, located in Yorkville, is adding a live sea lion show and road rally pedal car course this summer.

The Sea Lion Splash is scheduled to open June 1, and will offer three daily presentations featuring live, rescued sea lions.

Raging Waves also introduces the Outback Road Rally, a 430-foot pedal car racetrack presented by Case New Holland.

“This will be the best year yet for Raging Waves guests,” said Randy Witt, managing partner at Raging Waves. “With the addition of value-added attractions and with no increase in admission prices, we offer great value and a great park that the entire family can enjoy. A park that’s clean, that’s friendly and that’s safe.”

Waterpark visitors can enjoy the Sea Lion Splash as part of their park admission from June 1 through Aug. 11.

While the rescued sea lions will amaze guests this summer by performing tricks, handstands, ball balancing and shooting baskets, they also will teach families about sea lion conservation and harmonious living with humans.

On the other side of the park, the new Outback Road Rally offers an exciting family-friendly race course and a special competition event – the Father’s Day 500 timed trial race on June 16.

As a bonus, fathers get in free on Father’s Day.

The Aussie-themed, privately owned water park attracts visitors from all over the region, offering 17 water slides, a wave pool, multiple family play areas and a lazy river. Raging Waves’ main attractions include the Crocodile Mile family raft ride, Boomerang tornado ride, the Three Sisters tube rides, and the Cowabunga Zip Line.
