Drop off recycling materials in Mount Carroll

MOUNT CARROLL – There will be a super recycling collection for northwest Illinois residents and businesses.

Materials can be dropped off from 9 a.m. to noon at Carroll County Highway Department building, 10735 Mill Road.

Free recycling items include computers, monitors, televisions, printers, keyboards, copiers, and cell phones.

Small appliances, such as microwaves, vacuum cleaners, coffee and bread makers, toaster ovens, small saws, drills, holiday lights, and hair dryers will be accepted at no charge.

All types of batteries will be collected, as well as bicycles, swing sets, metal shelving, metal cabinets, lawn and garden tractors, lawn mowers, snow blowers, and metal patio furniture.

Outdoor grills, metal bed frames, steel posts, and metal fencing also will be accepted at no charge.

Large household appliances will be recycled for $10 per item and include refrigerators, dish washers, stoves, and air conditioners.  Compact and large fluorescent bulbs will be accepted.

The cost is $1 for each bulb 4 feet or less under; and $2 each for bulbs more than 4 feet.

Paper and document shredding, including DVD disposal, will be available for $2 per participating household or business.

No paint or chemicals will be accepted.
