DIXON – A Dixon man was arrested Friday for injuring a 1-year-old girl on New Year’s Eve, police said.
Dixon Police arrested Naylor L. Rice, 18, 935 N. Dixon Ave., on complaints of aggravated battery of a child, a Class X felony punishable by 6 to 30 years in prison; aggravated domestic battery, a Class 2 felony punishable by 3 to 7 years; and criminal sexual abuse, a Class A misdemeanor.
Police were told Monday by the Department of Children and Family Services that the girl had been admitted to KSB Hospital in Dixon with a broken arm. She since has been released, according to Dixon Police Sgt. Matt Richards.
Investigators determined Rice, who was living with the child, injured her by forcefully grabbing and pulling her. Rice was arrested at the Dixon Police Department and taken to the Lee County Jail.
Richards said the sexual abuse charge is not related to the physical abuse charges and was determined from the police investigation.
