O’Hare Towing provides escort for Van Meter’s funeral, Saturday

A procession of tow trucks will serve as an escort at the funeral of Allysa Van Meter of Woodridge as she is laid to rest Saturday morning.

The gesture by O’Hare Towing, Van Meter’s former employer is the company’s way to honor her. The 25-year old was one of only a few tow truck technicians at the company.

On Saturday, the procession will begin at 10:30 a.m. at Hallowell and James Funeral Home, 301 75th St., Downers Grove, and continue to Trisons Crematory, 919 N. Garfield St., Lombard.

Van Meter’s death came tragically on Dec. 15 when she was allegedly murdered by her former boyfriend, Adam Belmont, 23 of Northlake, in the Woodridge apartment they once shared.

Belmont was denied bond Monday morning when he appeared before DuPage County Circuit Court judge Alex McGimsey.

He was formally charged Monday with two counts of first degree murder, one count of aggravated criminal sexual assault and one count of felony home invasion.

His next court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 14.
