Man pleads not guilty to selling cocaine, trying to run over cop

Peoria man also charged with attempted murder

MORRISON – A Peoria man pleaded not guilty Thursday to charges that he sold crack cocaine to an informant and tried to run over a police officer who was trying to arrest him.

Dontee L. Brown, 31, is charged with attempted first-degree murder, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, delivery of a controlled substance, and aggravated fleeing.

Brown's co-defendant, Allison V. Dragojevich, 18, also of Peoria, pleaded not guilty Thursday to two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and delivery of a controlled substance.

Both have pretrial conferences on Sept. 26.

According to court documents and testimony Thursday:

Dragojevich sold 1 to 15 grams of crack cocaine to an informant at the intersection of Prophetstown Road and 14th Avenue in Rock Falls on Aug. 22, while Brown waited in his car.

When police went to arrest the pair, Brown sped off and crossed the opposite lane of traffic, climbed a curb, drove into a yard and nearly hit Sterling Police Detective J.D. Sanders.

Sanders jumped out of the way and was not injured.

Brown, whose car had a flat tire, was arrested in the 600 block of Seventh Avenue.

Money from the drug sale was found on him when he was arrested, according to documents and testimony.
