Corleone’s to celebrate 30th anniversary

Corleone’s Italian Restaurant in Morris will celebrate its 30th anniversary on Aug. 31, 2012. Owners are Phil, Jayne and Paul Claire.

The restaurant opened for business on Aug. 31, 1982 at 208 Liberty St. They moved to their present location at 110 Liberty St. in 1991.

Phil and Jayne attended Illinois State University and worked at Avantis, where they learned to cook, and they still use recipes they learned there.

During the 30 years the restaurant has been in business, they have employed more than 750 students and now employ a second generation, including a former employee whose son now works there.

Corleone’s was the first restaurant to have delivery service in Morris.

The menu includes sandwiches, salads, spaghetti, and pizza.

The Claires say their food is shipped, flown and taken all over the country. People say they “crave” it.

The family-friendly atmosphere offers very affordable prices and customers living out of town stop by before going home.

All sandwiches are made on their homemade bread and they use about 300 loaves a day.
