Halkyard hired as intern architect to firm with local ties

CHICAGO — Now on the rebound after several years of contraction, StudioGC Architects is once again realizing sustainable workload growth.

The 26-person firm has a rich history of designing public sector buildings, including the recently completed Morris City Hall and Police Facility.

Currently busy with projects at both Morris Elementary District 54 and Saratoga School District 60C, the firm has created and filled a new full-time professional staff position.

Shellie Halkyard, a recent graduate of the University of Illinois School of Architecture, has joined the StudioGC design team as an intern architect.

Shellie is also a graduate of Minooka Community High School and Saratoga School.

“We’re delighted to once again be able to hire bright young people like Shellie,” said Mike Gilfillan, StudioGC founder and president.

“StudioGC was founded 20 years ago and the expansion of Saratoga School was one of our first major assignments. We’re proud to continue our long business relationship with the Morris community and pleased to include Shellie on our roster.”

Established in 1992 to redefine the role of the public sector architect, StudioGC pioneered a collaborative approach that has transformed the way civic projects are accomplished. StudioGC is focused on creating cost-efficient, well designed public facilities.

Studio GC Architects is located at 223 W. Jackson Boulevard, Chicago, Ill., 60606.  For more information, about the firm, call (312) 253-3400 or visit http://www.studiogc.com.
