SUGAR GROVE – Natalie N. Teruel, 34, who lives on Sugar Lane in Sugar Grove, was arrested Saturday on a warrant charging her with aggravated driving under the influence and obstructing justice, both felonies.
At 10:05 p.m. May 20, Sugar Grove officers responded to a single vehicle crash on Route 56 west of Galena Boulevard, according to a press release from the Sugar Grove Police Department. Upon arrival, officers could not locate the driver or any passengers.
Teruel later was found walking away from the accident scene and told police she was only a passenger in the vehicle. Police said they later determined that she was the driver and had a suspended drivers license and a blood-alcohol level that was over the legal limit of .08.
In addition to the felony charges, Teruel also was issued citations for driving on a suspended driver's license, misdemeanor DUI, and improper land use, police said.
On Wednesday, a judge signed a warrant for her arrest, setting bail at $20,000. She was taken to Kane County Jail when she was unable to post bond.
