ROCHELLE – Windstar Lines Inc. of Carroll, Iowa, bought Dixon Meyers Trailways in Rochelle for an undisclosed amount of money.
The bus terminal, at 8834 S. state Route 251, is Windstar’s first in Illinois, the company said in a news release. Windstar has four locations in Iowa – Carroll, Cedar Rapids, Des Moines, and Dubuque – and a location in Lincoln, Neb.
“This acquisition will work out great, as having a terminal near Chicago has always been on our radar, as it is our most popular destination,” Jeff Greteman, president of Windstar Lines Inc., said in the release.
Windstar will continue to operate the casino trips that Dixon Meyer had planned, and will offer jobs to Dixon Meyers’ 6 or 7 employees, the release said.
One motor coach was acquired in the purchase.
Dixon Meyers was a charter bus business owned by Marv and Bev Binkley for nearly 50 years. Its sister trucking company, Dixon Myers Transportation, continues to operate and will lease part of the Windstar facility in Rochelle, the release said.
Windstar Lines is the largest motor coach company in Iowa, with more than 50 motor coaches, the release said.
