James Suarez Sr.

DEPUE — James A. Suarez Sr., 72, of DePue passed away at 12:15 p.m. Sunday, July 8, 2012, at his home.

Born Nov. 19, 1939, in Spring Valley to Vincent and Mary (Kuhar) Suarez, he married Carol Ann Norris Jan. 30, 1960, in St. Mary's Catholic Church in DePue. She died May 26, 2010.

He worked at the New Jersey Zinc Co. in DePue and then as the Selby Township road commissioner until retiring.

He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in DePue, the DePue Men's Club, DePue Booster Club and DePue Democrat Club. He retired from the DePue Volunteer Fire Department after many years of service.

Surviving are five sons, Brian (Karen) Suarez and Jay (Clare) Suarez, both of Princeton, Randy Suarez of Arlington, S.D., James (Guille) Suarez Jr. of Vail, Ariz., and Michael (Jeannine) Suarez of New Lenox; four sisters, Lillian Baer of Livermore, Calif., Anita (Leonard) Hybki of Peru, Mary (Gerald) Toovey of DePue and Sylvia (James) Hubert of Granite City; 11 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Dorothy Baracani, Gloria Corpus and Betty Suarez; and two brothers, Joseph and Vincent Suarez.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Barto Funeral Home, DePue, and at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, DePue, with the Rev. Kevin Creegan officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, DePue.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
