MORRISON – Hattie Buikema, 101, of Morrison, died Saturday, June 30, 2012, at Four Seasons Living Center in Morrison.

She was born May 18, 1911, in Friesland, Wis., to Opt and Tena (Kok) Byland. She married Richard E. Buikema on Aug. 1, 1929, in Fulton. He died April 26, 2000.

She was employed by General Electric in Morrison, and was a charter member of Emmanuel Reformed Church.

She is survived by three daughters, Frances Damhoff of Morrison, Charlotte (Don) Houzenga of Sterling, and Martha (Don) Smith of Morrison; five sons, Orville (Evelyn) Buikema of Clinton, Iowa, Richard “Dick” (Ruth) Buikema of Fulton, Robert “Bob” (Shirley) Buikema of Fulton, Theodore “Ted” (Hazel) Buikema of Willow Springs, Mo., and Harold (Laura) Buikema of Sterling; 26 grandchildren, 72 great-grandchildren and 30 great-great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Martha Wiersema, Nellie Kettler, and Sadie Huizenga; two brothers, John Byland and Theodore Byland; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, 404 E. Lincolnway in Morrison.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Emmanuel Reformed Church in Morrison with the Rev. David Smith of the Crete Reformed Church and the Rev. Paul Smith of the New Life Reformed Church of Coralville, Iowa, co-officiating.

Burial will be at the Grove Hill Cemetery.
 Memorials can be made to Emmanuel Reformed Church and Four Seasons Living Center.
