POLO – Trudie A. Matznick, 67, of Polo, passed away Sunday, May 27, 2012, at her home, with family by her side. She was a registered nurse for more than 40 years.
Trudie was born Aug. 8, 1944, in Sterling, the daughter of Frank and Doris (Hawkins) Merlak Sr. She was united in marriage to James Matznick on July 23, 1966, in Milledgeville. Trudie loved gardening, fishing and spending time with her grandchildren at the family cottage at Kentucky Lake in Kentucky.
Survivors include her husband, James; her mother, Doris Merlak-McCleary; daughter, Amy (Johnny) Boward of Polo; son, Barry (Kari) Matznick of Green Bay, Wis.; sister, Rhonda (Lowell) Mest of Gibson City; brother, Frankie (Vicki) Merlak Jr. of Sterling; and three grandchildren, Abbie, Joshua and Natalie Boward.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Polo Family Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Polo. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
