Paul J. Everts

DIAMOND, Ill. — Mr. Paul J. Everts, 80, of Diamond, Ill., and formerly of Lockport, Ill., passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at Morris Hospital.

Born July 7, 1931, in Coal City, Paul is a son of the late Paul and Bess (Swartz) Everts. He was raised and educated in Coal City, was a 1949 graduate of Coal City High School and honorably served his country in the United States Air Force.

Paul married the love of his life Ruth Drnec on Aug. 25, 1951, in Coal City. He was employed as a supervisor by Reynolds Metals in McCook, Ill., retiring in 1988.

Paul was a member of New Hope Presbyterian Church in Coal City and was a member of the A.F. & A.M. Braidwood Lodge.

In Paul's free time, he enjoyed the outdoord. He will be remembered as an avid fisherman and hunter who cherished the time spent with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Ruth; children, Nanci (Tom) Weideman of Hoover, Ala., Paul (Nancy) Everts of Channahon and Janice (James) Corpus of Peoria, Ill.; grandchildren, Cara (Ara) Dombourian, Lynn Weideman, Bradley Weideman, Christa Everts, Jeffrey Everts, Audrey Everts, Daniel (Stefani) Corpus and Keith Corpus; great-grandchildren, Lily and Emma Dombourian and Grayson Corpus; brothers, Robert (Arlene) Everts of Mokena, Ill., and Jerry Everts of Blue Island, Ill.; sister-in-law, Jane (Frank) Anselmo of Coal City; and mother-in-law, Hazel Drnec; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law, James Drnec.

The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. Friday, May 25, until the time of memorial service at 10 a.m at New Hope Presbyterian Church, 80 North Garfield St. at First Street in Coal City. Rev. Nate Manzo will officiate.

Inurnment will follow at noon Friday, May 25, at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.

A memorial luncheon will then be hosted at New Hope Presbyterian Church following the cemetery services.
