What are your main products? Floral, fresh, and silk arrangements, traditional and contemporary. Gifts, unique with ever-changing inventory. Espresso bar, gourmet coffee, teas, fruit smoothies, Door County Coffee, Republic of Tea.

What’s new? Flowerland has been a mainstay in Prophetstown for about 25 years. Sadly the doors closed last fall. Under the mentoring of Ginny Mickley (a previous owner), we decided to revitalize, restore and reopen.

What makes your business special? Our mission is quality with meticulous attention to detail, affordability and uniqueness. Personalized service is paramount.

How many do you employ? We wish to have a team of three to four with a delivery service. We are hiring now!

Who are you? I am the new owner, Kari Goodell. I decided to retire from being a nurse to pursue a career that will allow for my creative side.

Tell us a little about yourself. I hate to confess, I am 46. I’m a Canadian who moved to America 10 years ago (halfway to being a local!). I live on a farm south of Prophetstown. I have a cabin up in Canada, where I grew up, I love being on the water, alpine skiing, gardening and travel.

Tell us about your family. I met my honey, David Goodell, while traveling in Europe. He is my souvenir! We married in 1994 and lived in Canada. His dream was to return to rural Illinois and farm with his family (third generation). We do not have children, but are blessed with beautiful and gifted nieces and nephews. I am often referred to as “Uncle Buck.”

Any additional comments? I am most grateful for the support and encouragement from my community. The Main Street organization has been pivotal in strength and direction. As the Main Street slogan says “Prophetstown is ... practically perfect!”
