MORRISON – R. Stanley Maxfield, 90, of 306 N. Jackson St., Morrison, died Friday, March 9, 2012, at Morrison Community Hospital. He owned and operated Sand and Maxfield, a plumbing and heating company in Morrison. Later, he was employed in 1951 by General Electric in Morrison, retiring in 1989.

He was born Oct. 18, 1921, in Prophetstown, the son of Rollin H. and Mabel Ruth (Wysong) Maxfield. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He married Phyllis A. Hillmer on April 10, 1943, in Americus, Ga. He was a member of Morrison United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Marcia (William) Morris of Moline, Nancy Carlson of Geneseo and Janet (Thomas) Beveroth of Morrison; five sons, Barry (Dorothy) Maxfield of Merrill, Wis., Brian (Roberta) Maxfield of DeKalb, Paul Maxfield of Morrison, Vaughn (Martina) Maxfield of Morrison and Phillip (Anita) Maxfield of Leesburg, Ga.; 16 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Jeffrey Maxfield; and one brother, Perry Maxfield.

Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Morrison United Methodist Church. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, with the Rev. Dan Schenck, pastor, officiating. The graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Oakwood Cemetery in Geneseo. Arrangements were completed by Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home in Morrison.

Memorials have been established to Boy Scout Troop 96 in Morrison and Morrison United Methodist Church.
