ROCK FALLS – Lyle Lester Wolber, 78, of Rock Falls, died Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012, at Coventry Living Center in Sterling. He worked at National Manufacturing in Sterling for 42 years, retiring in 1995.
Lyle was born Jan. 29, 1933, in Jordan Township, the son of Lester and Evelyn (Woessner) Wolber. He married Lettie Harden on June 29, 1957, in Sterling. His beloved wife died July 22, 2005. Lyle was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Rock Falls. He enjoyed woodworking, golfing, bird-watching, traveling, and watching his grandchildren swim and play. He was a past member of the Jaycees.
Survivors include one son, Craig Wolber of Rock Falls, two daughters, Kristine (John) Dobbs of Modesto, Calif., and Amy (Marc) Long of Plainfield; one sister, Esther (Millard) Hicks of Dixon; and six grandchildren, Jake Wolber, Jenna Wolber, Shaun Dobbs, Patrick Dobbs, Jordan Long and Erica Long.
He also was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Leone Wallace.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by the memorial service at 11 a.m., Thursday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Daniel Behmlander officiating.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established to the American Cancer Society.
