STERLING – Charles H. Biermann, 81, of Sterling, died Friday, Jan. 20, 2012, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling. He was the executive vice president of sales and marketing at Northwestern Steel and Wire Co., retiring after 38 years.
Charles was born March 5, 1930, in Chicago, the son of Elmer and Clara (Krause) Biermann. He married Joan Murphy on Jan. 22, 1954, in Lombard. Charles served as an officer in the Army during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his wife, Joan; two sons, Dave (Jenny) Biermann, of Denver and Rod (Rachel) Biermann, of Larchmont, N.Y.; and seven grandchildren, Henry, Anne, Sam, Will, Alec, Emma and Bridget Biermann.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Schilling Funeral Home in Sterling. Private graveside services will be held at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling.
A memorial fund has been established.
