NELSON – Amelia M. Remrey, 96, of Nelson, died Monday, Dec. 12, 2011, at her daughter’s house after an extended illness.

She was born March 3, 1915, in Erie, the daughter of Rudolph F. and Margaret (Wright) Taber. She married Harry Remrey on Feb. 23, 1935, in Dixon.

He preceded her in death Aug. 24, 1998. Amelia was a 63-year member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Dixon.

Survivors include a daughter, Connie (Andy) Laidig of Nelson; a son, Gary R. (Charlotte) Remrey of Mount Morris; a brother, Jack (Marian) Taber of Freeport; sisters-in-law, Edna Forren of Rock Falls and Naoma Taber of Rock Island; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; 14 great-great grandchildren; and three step-great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Larry; and three brothers.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Dixon.

There also will be a visitation from 9:30 to 11 a.m., followed by the funeral at 11 a.m., Thursday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Dixon with the Rev. Janet Wittenmyer officiating.

Interment will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Dixon.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church organ fund or Rock River Valley Hospice.
