Kaleb Justice Beck, 14, of Morris, Ill., passed away unexpectedly Sunday afternoon, Dec. 4, 2011, in his home.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, at the U. C. Davis & Sons Funeral Home Ltd., 301  W. Washington St., Morris, Ill., where funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, with the Rev. Steve Larson of the First Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.

Born Feb. 2, 1997, in Morris, Ill., Kaleb was the son of Brenda S. Smith and Gary W. Beck Jr.
He received his education in the Morris schools and graduated from Shabbona Middlle School with the Class of 2011. Kaleb  was currently enrolled as a freshman in Morris Community High School, where he played the trumpet and was a member of the Marching Redskins band.

He enjoyed video games, reading and spending time with his family. He was a former member of Boy Scout Troop #469, which met at Immaculate Conception School.

Surviving are his loving parents, his mother Brenda S. (Timothy Walsh) Smith and his father, Gary W. Beck Jr.; his baby sister, Josephine Walsh; and maternal grandmother Kathy Smith, all of Morris; paternal grandparents Lucinda and Gary Beck Sr., of Ashley, Penn.; maternal great grandfather Frank Smith of Morris; paternal great grandmother Francis Beck of Blue Mound, Ill.; two aunts, Karen Beck of Scranton, Penn., and Tina Smith of Lancaster, Wis.; one uncle, Karl (Jessica) Smith of Morris, Ill.; and several cousins.

Kaleb was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, LaVerne L. Smith, on June 7, 1998;  his maternal great grandmother, Edith Smith, on June 18, 2007; and his paternal great grandfather, Muril Beck, in December of 2010.

Preferred form of remembrance would be memorial gifts in Kaleb's memory directed to the family for distribution to local charities of their choosing at a later date.
