Kim Landers is the new Assistant Vice President of Patient Care Services at Morris Hospital and Healthcare Centers.
A resident of Norway (Ill.), Landers has more than 20 years experience in hospital nursing, including the past 17 years in management and senior leadership positions. She is board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center in Nursing Administration, Advanced.
“Kim joins us with a wealth of past experiences and a depth of knowledge,” says Carol Havel, Vice President of Patient Care Services at Morris Hospital.
“She is a well-rounded individual who will be an asset to our hospital, our community, and our mission.”
Early in her career, Landers was a pediatric ICU and medical/surgical staff nurse. She served as manager of a general medicine nursing unit and a bone marrow transplant oncology unit at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. She was also director of acute care at Provena Mercy Center in Aurora.
In 2001, Landers became Chief Nursing Officer at St. Mary’s Hospital in Streator, where she directed all inpatient and outpatient nursing care areas in addition to serving in a number of interim leadership roles. While at St. Mary’s, she was the nursing leader and representative for numerous medical staff committees.
A graduate of University of Iowa College of Nursing, Landers received a Master’s of Science in Nursing Administration from DePaul University in Chicago. She is an active member of the Illinois Organization of Nurse Leaders at the state and regional levels and a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and the American Organization of Nurse Executives. She is board certified as a Medical-Surgical Nurse and certified in Hospital Incident Command for Emergency Preparedness.
Landers says she is looking forward to being part of the team at Morris Hospital where she has administrative responsibility for the medical/surgical nursing units, family birthing suites, education department, and nursing supervisors.
“For many years now, my passion has been serving in a nursing leadership role,” she says. “My main interest has always been working in an organization where I can affect excellent patient care.”
“Morris Hospital is a premiere organization in both quality of care and patient outcomes. There’s evidence of that in the data. Plus there’s a real commitment to the patients. I hear good things about the hospital in the community all the time.”
