Returning for the fourth consecutive year, Hollywood actor and musician Gary Sinise, performed to more than 3,500 military and civilian personnel on Ross Field July 15.
"The band enjoys coming back each year and claims that the hospitality and overwhelming appreciation from the sailors is what keeps them coming back," said Megan Stadlman, MWR special events coordinator.
Sinise, the star actor from movies such as "Forrest Gump," "Apollo 13," and the hit television series "CSI: NY" presented a free concert with his band "The Lt. Dan Band." The band plays everything from Stevie Wonder and Jimi Hendrix classics to contemporary songs by Kelly Clarkson, Evanescence, Beyonce, Lonestar, and the Zac Brown Band. As stated by the band, their goal is to have fun and rock the house!
Sinise and the band play an average of 30-40 concerts per year, many of which are overseas to visit those serving our country.
"The weather was fantastic, the crowd seemed to really enjoy the show. Overall, it was a great event on Friday afternoon," said Lisa Weaver, MWR community activities director. "We're pleased that MWR had the opportunity to coordinate yet another concert by this outstanding group of performers, and want to thank the USO for their support. We're looking forward to continuing to work with the band again in the future."
