SVCC summer hours in effect

DIXON – Sauk Valley Community College changed to its 4-day summer work schedule on Monday and will continue them through Aug. 11. Office hours will be 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday; the college will be closed on Fridays.

Hours for the offices of admissions and records, counseling, and financial assistance will be 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Wednesdays, and 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursdays.

Starting Monday, summer hours for Sauk’s fitness center and weight room will be 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to noon on Fridays, and closed Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.

Sauk’s Follett’s bookstore will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The bookstore will return to regular fall semester hours Aug. 22 for financial aid purchases.

Summer hours for Sauk’s library will be 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

Two named to SALUTE chapter

MACOMB – Two area students were named to the Western Illinois University chapter of SALUTE, the national veterans honor society.

Marine Kurt Poliska, of Rochelle, an emergency management major, and Steven Topping of Franklin Grove, of the U.S. Navy and a pre-business conditional accounting major, were named to SALUTE.

Sterling student accepted at Luther

DECORAH, Iowa – Jacob Gilroy of Sterling has been accepted for admission to Luther College for the 2011-12 academic year.

Honor society gains new member

DECORAH, Iowa – Douglas Gray Hamilton of Polo was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa honor society on April 17 at Luther College.
