Perrot receives nod to replace Decman

Gardner resident had taught at GSW High

GARDNER — The District #73 Board of Education Monday evening hired Michael Perrott,  as the new superintendent/principal of Gardner-South Wilmington High School.

The current assistant superintendent at Morton High School District #201, Perrott was given a three-year contract with a base salary of $115, 000.  He replaces outgoing Superintendent Dr. Richard S. Decman, who is leaving to go to Herscher CUSD #2.

Perrott has earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Illinois State University in art education and his superintendent endorsement in educational administration, also from Illinois State University.

He began his career in 1986 as a teacher at Gardner-South Wilmington High School and has taught kindergarten through the university level. As an administrator, Perrott has served as an assistant superintendent, district curriculum director, and vocational administrator.

Most recently, Perrott was the assistant superintendent for educational programs in the J. S. Morton High School District in Cicero/Berwyn, Ill. His responsibilities included the supervision of educational programs, grants, and curriculum for four attendance centers serving over 8,500 high school students.

Prior to working at Morton, he served in the Valley View School District as the assistant superintendent of middle schools and high schools. As a Valley View District assistant superintendent, Perrott worked closely with all areas of the district and building administration teams to strengthen relationships between grade-level curriculum, buildings, community, parents, and programs.

The Valley View School District has nearly 18,000 kindergarten through high school students.  Perrott worked with the five middle schools, two high schools, and alternative center in the district.

More locally, Perrott was the assistant superintendent for curriculum in the Wilmington School District and curriculum director for the Herscher School District.

Perrott currently lives in Gardner and has twin sons, age 11, and a 12-year-old daughter.

He will assume the superintendent/principal duties at Gardner-South Wilmington High School District #73 on July 1.
