The lovely and tranquil country setting at 3925 Stockdale Road is the perfect place to satisfy all the interests of Ari and Stephanie de la Hera’s family.
The home was built in 2005. Ari and Stephanie live there with their two boys, Aden and Austin. Their home sits on 27 acres just south of Nettle Creek Country Club.
Ari, who is a cardiologist at Morris Hospital, is a very hands-on dad. He loves to work in the yard with the boys. They have built the play set in the backyard, and also the rabbit hutch for the boys’ rabbits. Other outdoor interests they share are fishing, snowmobiling and riding the ATV and their Harley Davidson motorcycle. The new barn on the property is the home to a racquetball court, which is a sport that Ari loves to play.
Stephanie and Ari married in April 2004. Ari was born in Cuba, but has been raised in the United States since he was 7. He grew up in Texas and Florida. He studied medicine in the Dominican Republic.
He not only practices at the Morris Hospital, but also at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center.
Stephanie, who grew up in Morris, is a registered nurse primarily for cardiac patients. Before staying home with their young boys, she worked at Saint Joe's as well. She attended Eastern Illinois University and the Saint Joseph College of Nursing.
The couple has made their home a reflection of their lifestyle. They are very easy going and family centered and their home feels the same.
The formal living room to the left when one enters the home is decorated with taupe and burgundy colors. The floral rug and the oak hardwood floors compliment this room perfectly.
A small Christmas tree with multi-colored lights in this room will be able to be seen from the front window.
The hardwood floors lead guests into the office, which is the home to Ari’s handmade model race cars. Decorated in the colors of camel and black, the office has a beautiful view of the backyard. The desk, the book shelves and the humidor for Ari’s cigars are handmade.
The next room Housewalk participants will see is the family’s spacious kitchen. The 10-foot ceiling adds light and space to the room and the eat-in island granite counter makes it a great gathering space. The silver appliances add just the right amount of modern.
The room also has a Mission-style kitchen table, which is large enough for a fun dinner party or just a casual family dinner.
The new four seasons room was just added this fall. It has a pine ceiling, cultured stone on the walls and a cozy fireplace for cool evenings.
The room is decorated with chocolate brown wicker furniture with tan cushions, ceiling fans and comfortable carpeting.
The family room is connected to the kitchen with a space that is home to a huge 125-gallon fresh water fish tank. The family room has built-in custom made shelving on the sides of a log burning fireplace.
The room is decorated with large dark brown leather furniture and a matching ottoman. The grapevine wall hangings add a great touch of color. This room will be where stockings will be hung and Santa will deliver gifts under the large Christmas tree.
Aden, who is 5, is hoping for anything Spiderman, and Austin, who is 3, would be happy with anything from Toy Story.
Ari’s older girls, Vanessa, 20, Alexa, 16, and Elena, 14, will also be on hand to share in the holiday spirit. The girls live with their mother in Homer Glen, but are close enough to enjoy family time in Morris.
The last room that guests will enjoy seeing is the formal dining room.
The large dining table is made of dark wood and is very ornate. The place settings are pink and silver.
