SOUTH ELGIN — Two people were transported to an area hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in a crash that closed a portion of Randall Road midday Thursday.
South Elgin Police said the crash, which occurred on Randall Road at McDonald Road shortly before 11:30 a.m. Thursday, involved a semi truck hauling gravel and a passenger car.
Police say the car was traveling northbound through the intersection on Randall Road. The gravel truck was turning from southbound Randall Road onto eastbound McDonald Road at the time of the crash, before colliding with the driver's side of the car.
Police said two people, both believed to be adults, were transported by ambulance to Provena St. Joseph's Hospital in Elgin for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.
One of those transported had been extricated by rescue personnel from the South Elgin Fire Department. That person's injuries were described by police as "traumatic."
The crash closed Randall Road in both directions between McDonald Road and Silver Glen Road, forcing traffic to be rerouted while investigators continued their investigation from the time of the crash until shortly after 2 p.m.
The crash is being investigated by South Elgin Police and the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team.
