Graduation Day

Twenty-six graduate during May 21 ceremony

The graduation ceremony for the Class of 2010 of Immaculate Conception School was held Friday, May 21 during a 7 p.m. Liturgy.

The graduates processed into the church to the traditional “Pomp and Circumstance” played by Mr. George McComb.

Tyler Thuente led his classmates, carrying a standard that was decorated in the school colors of blue and gold.

Members of the ICS Class of 2010 are Molli Jane Aldrich, Kellen Marie Bernickus, Matthew Richard Bernickus, Marcella Virginia Boers, Madison Rose Feeney, Kaitlin Irene Friend, Michael Selby Funk, Kirsten N. Galloway, Delaney Anne Haefner, Alex Hansen, Anne Marie Hudson, Morgan Michelle Hussey, Kelly Kolotka, Trevor Matthew Lines, Andrew Arthur Narvick, Richard Pelnarsh, Geno S. Persico, Zachary Bennett Rezin, Eric Christopher Robinson, Alyssa Marie Rogers, John Russell Struck, Tyler A. Thuente, Marisa Paige Twait, James Joseph VanPelt, Hannah Werden and John Joseph West.
Father Richard Smith was the celebrant at the Mass. Deacon Bob Stansberry assisted him.
Kristen Galloway presented the first reading, and Kelly Kolotka read the second reading. The intercessions were read by Trevor Lines and John Struck.

Hannah Werden and Marisa Twait carried and covered the altar with the cloth the class made for their First Communion Mass when they were in second grade.

Gift bearers at the presentation were Michael Funk, Molli Aldrich, Kellen Bernickus, John West and Kaitlin Friend.

Principal Mr. Kim DesLauriers presented the graduates to those present, and Father Smith awarded them their diplomas. Mrs. Pat Kolotka, president of the ICS School Board, assisted him. Mr. Ken Buck, representative of American Legion Post 294, presented the American Legion Awards to Tyler Thuente and Kelly Kolotka.

DesLauriers presented an American Citizenship Award to Kellen Bernickus.

Kaitlin Friend, Morgan Hussey, Richard Pelnarsh, Geno Persico and Zachary Rezin.  Kellen Bernickus, Matthew Bernickus, Morgan Feeney, Kaitlin Friend, Kirsten Galloway, Morgan Hussey, Kelly Kolotka, Trevor Lines, Zachary Rezin, Eric Robinson, Alyssa Rogers. and Tyler Thuente received the President’s Education Award for havingmaintained at least a 3.5 GPA and scoring in the 85th percentile on standardized tests their seventh and eighth grade years.

Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics certificates were presented to those with the highest math average in each of the two math groups.

Molli Aldrich received it for the pre-algebra group, and Matthew Bernickus for the algebra group. Certificates were presented to Kellen Bernickus, Marcella Boers, Madison Feeney and Anne Hudson for having perfect attendance their eighth-grade year. The President’s Physical Fitness Awards were presented to Molli Aldrich, Madison Feeney and Morgan Hussey.

DesLauriers recognized the members of the class who had been on the honor roll. These students were Molli Aldrich, Kellen Bernickus, Matthew Bernickus, Marcella Boers, Madison Feeney, Kaitlin Friend, Kirsten Galloway, Morgan Feeney, Kelly Kolotka, Trevor Lines, Richard Pelnarsh, Zachary Rezin, Eric Robinson, Alyssa Rogers, John Struck, Tyler Thuente, James VanPelt, Hannah Werden and John West.
In his remarks, DesLauriers recognized the 16 families who will no longer have a child attending Immaculate Conception school.

The cross bearer for the Mass was Leah Lines.  Servers were Alicia Boers and Kendra Thuente. Ushers were Michael Feeney, Ryan Friend, Nina Funk, and Amanda Pelnarsh.  They are brother and sisters of members of the graduating class.

Cantor for the Mass was Hayley Robinson, sister of graduate, Eric.
