GRAYSLAKE – Students and staff at Grayslake Middle School stand proud of their musical achievements following a very successful year of competition at local contests.
Both seventh- and eighth-grade treble choirs received ratings of first at the Illinois Grade School District Music Contest this past March. In April, they received participation plaques at the Illinois State Grade School Music Festival.
At the Music in the Parks Great America Music Festival in May, the seventh-grade treble choir received a rating of excellent and a second place. The eighth-grade treble choir also participated in the festival and received a rating of superior and a first place and captured the Grand Champion title for the Middle School/High School Choral Division.
The Grayslake Middle School Concert Band received a rating of second at the Illinois Grade School District contest and a rating of excellent and first place at the Music in the Parks Festival.
The eighth-grade symphonic band received a rating of first at the Illinois Grade School District contest, a participation plaque at the Illinois Grade School State Music Festival and a rating of excellent and first rating at the Music in the Parks Festival.
The Grayslake jazz ensemble and jazz band participated in the Rolling Meadows Jazz Festival this past February. The jazz ensemble also participated in the Mundelein Jazz Festival in March, receiving a rating of first and earning outstanding instrumental performance for a middle school.
The jazz band and jazz ensemble competed April 30 at the Music in the Parks Great America Festival. The jazz ensemble received a rating of excellent and secondpPlace, and the jazz band received a rating of second place good.
