Both the Coal City eighth-grade boys and girls won quadrangular track meet Tuesday while the seventh-grade boys and girls did likewise. On Monday, the Coal City eighth-grade boys were second in a triangular while the seventh-grade boys captured a triangular. The eighth-grade girls were second in a triangular while the seventh-grade schools were likewise.
BOYS
Coal City had 71 points Tuesday to 55 for Nettle Creek and 12 for Gardner-South Wilmington. Braceville failed to score.
Double winners for the Warriors were Lane Cowherd (100 and 200 meters) plus Clay Kauzlaric (800 and 1600) while Andrew Elledge, Zach Scerine, Ryan Master and Usmar Torres teamed up to take the 1600 relay. Seconds were by Alex Medina in the hurdles, Torres in the 400 and Scerine in the high jump. Medina, Masters, Casey Brown and Jordan Koenig were second in the 400 relay.
Elledge was third in the hurdles, Carlos Shoemaker likewise in the 1600, Scerine third in the 400, Brandon Castelon in the 800, Medina in the high jump and Brown in the long jump. Brown was fourth in the high jump. Elledge was fifth in the 100 and Koenig likewise in the long jump.
The seventh-graders had 87 points to 50 for GSW, 16 for Nettle Creek and 6 for Braceville. Jack Dibble doubled in the 100 and 200 meters for the Warriors. Joey Kroeger won the 800 meters and was part of the victorious 800 relay squad along with Dibble, Parker Czaja and Brayden Barker. Brian Washington, Cody Jerz, Mike Rowell and Nick Ingalls claimed the 4000 relay. Seconds were by Kroeger in the hurdles, Barker in the 100 and 200, Cougar Long in the 1600, Nick Micetich in the 400 and Keegan McKinney in the 800. Washington was second in the high jump and Rowell second in the long jump. Micetich, Talor Cirrencione, Dominic Ferrara and Jonah Englert took second in the 1600 relay. Washington was third in the hurdles while Micetich was likewise in the 1600 and Cirrencione in the 400. Alec Leasure grabbed thirds in the high and long jumps. Ryan McCord was fourth in the 1600 and Micetich fourth in the long jump. Riley Kauzlaric was fifth in the 800 and Adam McLuckie fifth in the high jump.
On Monday, the Coal City boys eighth-graders had 49 points to 67 for Seneca and 6 by Milton Pope. Medina claimed the hurdles and Torres the 400. The 1600 relay team of Andrew Elledge, Ryan Masters, Zach Scerine and Torres also took first. Seconds were by the 400 relay team (Jordan Koenig, Masters, Medina and Casey Brown), Clay Kauzlaric in the 800 and 1600, Medina in the high jump and Scerine in the 400. Elledge was third in the hurdles while Paul Bryan was third in the shot. Brown was third in both the high and long jumps. Medina was third in the 200, Brandon Castleton likewise in the 800 and Carlos Shoemaker in the 1600. Fourths were by Medina (100), Alex Wills (discus) and Medina (long jump).
The seventh-graders had 64 points to 50 for Seneca and 13 by Milton Pope.
Jack Dibble doubled in the 100 and 200 meters. Joey Kroeger claimed the hurdles and Matt Long the discus. Isiah Washington took the high jump and Mike Rowell the long jump. Dibble, Brayden Barker, Parker Czaja and Kroeger took the 800 relay. Seconds were by Barker in the 100, Cougar Long in the 1600, Long in the shot, Kroeger in the 800 plus the 400 relay (Cody Jerz, Edward Fiese, Rowell and Nick Ingalls) and 1600 (Taylor Cirrencione, Czaja, Nick Micetich and Jonah Englert) relays.
Josh Lacy was third in the shot, Micetich third in the long jump, Riley Kauzlaric in the 800 and Barker in the 200. Micetich was fourth in the 400 as was Lacy in the disc.
GIRLS
The Coal City eighth-grade girls had 75 points Tuesday to 31 for Nettle Creek, 17 for GSW and 7 for Braceville. Individual winners were Taylor McCollough in the hurdles, Emily Smerling in the 400, Brittany Jezik in the high jump and Emily Halliday in the long jump. Jezik, Madison Sherman, Gugi Shabani and Halliday claimed the 400 relay while Becca Stile, Shabani, Jezik and Smerling took the 1600 relay.
Seconds were by Stiles in the hurdles, Halliday in the 200, Shabani in the 200 and Abbey Polakovic in the high jump and Jordyn Peterman in the 1600 along with the 800 relay foursome of Smerling, McCollough, Caely Seely and Stacey Herrera. Thirds were by Jezik (100), Stiles (200 and high jump), Lauren Reddington (800) and Sherman (long jump).
The seventh-grade girls had 96 points while GSW had 24, Nettle Creek 16 and Braceville 11. Taking firsts for the Lady Warriors were Nicole Borgetti (hurdles), Mady Bunton (100-200-long jump) and Claire Paulis (800 and 1600). The 800, 400 and 1600 relay squads were also victorious.
On Monday, the eighth-grade girls had 45 points to 55 for Seneca and 34 by Milton Pope. Taking firsts for Coal City were Emily Halliday (100), Brittany Jazik (high jump) and Madison Sherman (long jump) plus the 400 relay quartet of Halliday, Jezik, Sherman and Gugi Shabani.
Seconds were by Abby Polakovic in the high jump and Halliday in the 200 plus the 800 relay (Emily Smerling, McCullough, Seely and Herrara) and the 1600 relay (Stiles, Shabani, Jezik and Smerling). Thirds were by McCollough (hurdles), Halliday (long jump), Paulis (800) and Shabani (200). Fourths were by Jezik (100), Stiles (hurdles), Michaela Phillips (discus and shot) plus Lauren Reddington (800).
The Coal City seventh-graders had 53 points to the 63 garnered by Milton Pope and 9 by Seneca. C;are Langers took the 100 and Paulis the long jump.
