PHELPS, Wis. – Florence M. Johnson, 88, of Phelps, Wis., formerly of Dixon, died Friday, April 2, 2010, at Lillian E. Kerr Nursing Home, Phelps. Wis.
She was born Aug. 20, 1921, in LaSalle, the daughter of William and Rose (Schuster) Joop. Florence was raised and attended schools in LaSalle.
On Oct. 30, 1942, she married Guy Johnson. He preceded her in death on April 18, 2007.
Florence was employed by Dixon Evening Telegraph for many years. She and Guy moved to the Northwoods of Wisconsin in 1988. She attended Twin Lakes Bible Church, Phelps, Wis., was involved as the activity director for Phelps Senior Center, and enjoyed sewing and quilting.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by her daughter, Lynn (David) Wiles of Rockford; son, David (Kim) Johnson of Phelps, Wis.; sister, Adele Crabtree-Cross of Peru; grandchildren, Leigh (Randi) Scott, Casey and Brooks Johnson, Emily (Stephen) Bashaw, Abigail (Adam) Banter, and Ashley and Margaret Wiles; and great-grandchildren, Zander, Cameron, and Miles Scott, and Parker and Landon Bashaw.
In addition to her husband, Guy, Florence was preceded in death by her sister, Charlotte Biddle.
The funeral will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Gaffney-Busha Funeral Home, Eagle River, Wis., with visitation one hour prior to the service.
Local services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens Chapel, LaSalle, with visitation from 1 to 2 p.m.
