Jennifer A. Shaw, 29, has joined Peacock Law Offices, PC, in Morris, as an associate attorney.
Jennifer returns to her hometown, having been born and raised in Morris and Minooka.
Jennifer Shaw is the daughter of local Morris businesspersons Wesley and Esther Shaw.
She is a 1998 graduate of Minooka Community High School.
She received a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in August 2002. At the U of I, Jennifer made the Dean’s list from Fall 2000 through Spring 2002, and participated in the Environmental Fellows Program, English Honors Program and Domestic Violence Shelter as a certified volunteer.
Thereafter, she received a full tuition scholarship to attend the University of Illinois College of Law at Urbana-Champaign and received her law degree in May 2006.
While at the College of Law, Jennifer was President of the Environmental Law Society, and a Director of Program Committee of the Latino/Latina Law Students Association.
Jennifer passed the Bar Exam and was admitted to practice law in Illinois in November 2006.
After becoming licensed to practice law, Jennifer has been employed by Follett Corporation, Sears Holding Corporation, the law firms of Sidley Austin, LLP and Neal, Gerber & Eisenberg, LLP, and recently the University of Chicago Medical Center.
Since Jan. 4, 2010, she has been working with the law firm of Peacock Law Offices, PC, in the general practice of law concentrated in the areas of personal injury, product liability, domestic relations, real estate, commerical law and trusts and estates.
The firm of Peacock Law Offices, PC, is located on the second floor of the Fraternal Order of Eagle’s building, Liberty and Washington streets in Morris.
The law firm and its predecessor law firms have been at that location since 1877. Recently, the name of the law firm changed with the retirement of Wayne W. McFarland, Jr. from the practice of law with the firm, which he had been with since 1980.
Jennifer Shaw joins the law firm with Attorney John D. Peacock, a third generation lawyer with the firm.
