Courtney Skala, 18, of Dixon, is a nursing student at Sauk Valley Community College. She is the daughter of Michele Siemianewski of Rockford.

Alma mater: I graduated in 2009 from Byron High School.

Philosophy: Live, love and laugh.

Hearts: Dancing and hanging out with friends, and "America's Best Dance Crew" on MTV.

Darts: People's drama.

Haunts: The mall and Sauk Commons.

Hero: My great-grandmother, the late Lillian Hue. She taught me a lot of my morals.

First job: I worked at Burger King in Byron when I was 16 as a cashier. I didn't like it.
