STERLING – James Anselmo, 93, of Sterling, died Sunday, Feb. 14, 2010, at his home.
Mr. Anselmo was born Sept. 20, 1916, in St. Louis, the son of Francisco and Anna (Merendino) Anselmo. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army. He married Dolly Sheley on Jan. 30, 1947, in Chicago. He was a self-employed accountant in the area for many years, and enjoyed working about in his yard and garden. Mr. Anselmo was a member of Rock Falls American Legion Post 902; Sterling Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 326; and a past member of Sterling Noon Lions Club.
Surviving are his wife, Dolly; his children, Frank (Pam) Anselmo, Crete Kingery, Mark (Kerina) Anselmo, and Marie (Marc) Wolens, all of Sterling; one sister, Theresa (Frank) Sorrentino; one brother-in-law, Les Blaul of Florida; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Katherine Blaul, Rosemary (Bill) Sexton, and Frances Anselmo.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at McDonald Funeral Home, 1002 12th Ave., Rock Falls, with the Rev. Paul Sheley officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Sterling. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials in his memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
