Four charged with DUI in St. Charles on Sunday

ST. CHARLES – City police on Sunday charged four adults with drunken driving, including one man who flipped his car several times, according to police reports.

Todd Alan Havlicek, 38, of the 6000 block of Essex Road, Lisle, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a blood-alcohol content of more than 0.08 percent and improper lane use.

According to reports, witnesses saw his Ford Explorer swerving on the road before the vehicle suddenly tumbled across the pavement.

It flipped up to four times before landing upright near Route 38 and Brundige Road at about 10:14 p.m.

Havlicek later told police he was coming from a Super Bowl party and had consumed some drinks. His blood-alcohol content was 0.239 percent, according to reports. He received treatment at Delnor Hospital in Geneva.

At about 11:12 p.m., a police officer awoke driver Miguel Angel Diaz, 29, of the 200 block of North Ninth Street, St. Charles. He was sleeping with his foot on the brake, his vehicle in drive and a cell phone in his right hand while stopped at 15th Street and West Main Street, according to reports.

Diaz was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a blood-alcohol content of more than 0.08 percent; it was 0.185 percent, according to reports.

The two other adults charged Sunday were women.

Lynda Lu Pappas, 45, of the 42W0-100 block of Hunters Hill Drive, St. Charles, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving without insurance.

Karen D. Schiewe, 43, of the 6N200 block of Surrey Road, Wayne, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, improper lane use and disobeying a stop or yield sign.
