LEE CENTER – Leo F. Eisenberg, 84, of Lee Center, died Monday, Sept. 21, 2009, at his home. He owned and operated Central Foundation Co. for 38 years, retiring in 1991.
Leo was born Nov. 2, 1924, in Amboy, the son of Henry and Marie (Zimmerly) Eisenberg. He was a veteran of the Army, serving during the Korean War. Leo married Agnes Boedigheimer on Nov. 19, 1955, at St. Mary Church, Sterling. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Amboy. Leo was an avid hunter, fisherman, and Chicago Cubs fan.
Survivors include his wife of Lee Center; children, Debra (Bill) Gorski and Henry (Mary) Eisenberg, both of Dixon, and Brian Eisenberg of Lee Center; one brother, Cecil (Peggy) Eisenberg of Amboy; one sister, Rosie Liston of Amboy; four grandchildren, Jacob and Kelli Gorski, and Adam and Nicole Eisenberg; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Ella Halsey, Florence Schnell, Irene Wilson, and Ethel Murphy; and three brothers Ralph, Bill, and Lyle Eisenberg.
Prayer service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Mihm-Jones Funeral Home, Amboy, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Amboy, with the Rev. Carl Beekman, pastor, officiating. Burial, with military graveside honors by the Amboy American Legion, will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery, Amboy. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., with the rosary recited at 7:30 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
