ROCK FALLS – Mary Ann Garza, 72, of Rock Falls, died Saturday, July 4, 2009, at her home following an illness.
She was born Dec. 27, 1936, in San Benito, Texas, the daughter of Mariano and Clara (Garza) Castillo.
She married Guillermo Garza on April 23, 1955, in Sterling. Mrs. Garza was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, and enjoyed playing bingo and going to the casino.
Surviving are her husband, Guillermo; two sons, Guillermo Garza Jr. and Ruben Garza; four daughters, Rose Garza (Tracie), Norma (Victor) Medrano, Laura (Brent) Walls, and Jasmine Garza (Trent McKenna); one sister, Gloria Guitierrez; 16 grandchildren, Frank (Laura) Garza, Heather (Ivann) Gomez, Andrew (Vanessa) Garza, Natalie (Jay) Morrow, Steven Garza, Mia Medrano, Victor Medrano Jr., Brandy (Ben) Imfeld, Ashley Garza, Ruben Garza Jr., Brandon Walls, Dylan Walls, Kylie Knox, Kade Knox, Taryn McKenna, and Teagan McKenna; nine great-grandchildren; and special friends, Reann Garza, and Priscilla, Petra, and Allie Guitierrez.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Jesse Escamilla; and two sisters, Carmen Rodriquez and Oralia Canales.
Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Rock Falls, with Monsignor Thomas Dzielak, celebrant, officiating.
Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Sterling. Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at McDonald Funeral Home, 1002 12th Ave., Rock Falls.
Memorials may be made in her memory to Hospice of the Rock River Valley.
