‘ONYX’ offers event for young professionals

OTTAWA — The Ottawa Network of Young eXecs (ONYX) will host an open house and social networking event from 5 until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24, at Hacienda Los Jardines Mexican Restaurant, 711 LaSalle St., in Ottawa.

The group’s open house last month more than doubled its membership.

In addition to having an opportunity to learn more about the group, each attendee will receive a ticket for a complimentary margarita or beer upon visiting the event’s registration table. Chicken quesadillas and nachos will also be served. A variety of door prizes will be given away to attendees, including a margarita basket and a Fourth of July cooler. The event is being sponsored by The Justice Law Firm in Ottawa.

Additional events planned for 2009 include Da$h for Cash, a 5K run/walk event to benefit the American Red Cross of the Heartland, a baseball outing, and a professional development seminar.

ONYX, an organization developed in partnership with the Chamber, enables and encourages young professionals, ages 22-40, to become the future “gems” of the community.

From entry-level to executive, ONYX allows members an opportunity to achieve personal and professional growth by providing a modern setting for social and business networking, community involvement and cultural and career development.

The group is open to all young professionals, ages 22-40, living and/or working in the Ottawa area. For more information, visit  www.ottawachamberillinois.com/onyx, or e-mail onyx.illinois@gmail.com.
