ATI Physical Therapy sets bar with outpatient transportation program

Largest program in Midwest continues to be enhanced

BOLINGBROOK — ATI Physical Therapy (ATI) continues to enhance their ongoing Transportation Program in an effort to enhance their patient’s overall experience and successful physical therapy.

Started in 2004 with one vehicle servicing one clinic, the Transportation Program now services all 44 ATI clinics in Illinois and Wisconsin with a fleet of 60-plus vehicles.

The program is on target to deliver more than 50,000 patient-visits in 2009 to patients who would otherwise be faced with transportation challenges that may interfere with the consistency and continuity of attending therapy.

“We are a full-scale, user-friendly patient transportation provider,” said Thomas Wegrzyn, transportation program director for ATI. “If a patient can’t get to therapy, they can’t get better.

“We offer this type of extensive program to alleviate transportation obstacles from interfering with successful therapy. This program enhances the patient’ overall experience and allows us to provide the highest quality of care possible.”

Among the highlights to ATI’s transportation program include:

• Services all ATI clinic locations, transporting more than 50,000 patients visits a year.

• Patient scheduling is flexible and easy to use with ATI transportation drivers confirming pick-up times and waiting for the patient upon completion of therapy.

• 60-plus transportation vehicles are in fleet and are maintained regularly by an ASE Certified Mechanic providing safe, fuel-efficient and environmentally-friendly vehicles.

• Employs 63 dedicated and professional full- and part-time drivers with a passion for making a positive difference in the lives of the patients they interact with on a day-to-day basis.

• Drivers receive on-going Safety Training & Education, including an internal 16-hour training program with education in basic patient-transportation skills.

• Committed to ongoing program development, including Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training for drivers and a Rewards program for safe driving for its drivers in 2009.

• Provides a safe, pleasant and beneficial service to enhance overall success of patient’s therapy.

“As we continue to expand our company, our goal is to enhance our exceptional Transportation Program in an effort to provide an additional service for our patients so they are able to get to and from their therapy sessions,” said Dylan Bates, chief operations officer at ATI. “Through driver training, education and our focus on vehicle safety and maintenance, we are able ensure our patients a safe, pleasant and beneficial transportation experience.”
