Owner/manager: Richie Jomant, 27, of Amboy, was born and raised in Rock Falls, and cut hair for a barbershop there before buying the Sterling Barbershop. Richie and his wife Lauren have three children: Earl, 8, Isela, 4, and Mathias, 2.
Founded: 1926. The Sterling Barbershop is the oldest continually operating business in downtown Sterling. Jomant is its fifth owner. Early this year, the barbershop reopened following Jomant’s buyout of former co-owners Tim Regan and Jean Dempsey.
Regan and Dempsey will continue to cut hair, along with Jomant and his brother Josh Jomant. Regan works on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday and Dempsey on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The Jomants have yet to set days.
Decorations and entertainment: Include walls decked out in Chicago sports memorabilia and two flat-panel televisions to watch the games.
