Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox has announced major enhancements to its employee compensation and Total Rewards program that impact nearly every Silver Cross employee. These adjustments, effective Oct. 3, include an early merit increase, a $15 per hour minimum wage and market-based wage increases, collectively totaling nearly $10 million. Silver Cross also continues to provide a generous match program for employees’ retirement accounts.
The merit increase, which is traditionally given each December, is two months ahead of schedule this year and is guaranteed for all employees that began work by July 1, 2021.
“This is an investment in our most valuable resource: the people who choose to work at our hospital,” said Silver Cross Hospital President and Chief Executive Officer Ruth Colby. “They take such wonderful care of our patients and our community. This is our way of saying ‘your hard work hasn’t gone unnoticed. We appreciate you; we care about you, and we thank you.’”
She added, “Retaining and recruiting the very best employees is one of our top priorities. Over the past 12 months we have recruited more than 700 employees, a significant number of which are nurses. I’m proud to say Silver Cross continues to invest in our people even as we navigate the challenges of the 19-month COVID-19 pandemic.”
