A Bolingbrook man has been charged with severely battering his infant daughter in 2020.
On Monday, Tyler Wright, 24, appeared in court to surrender himself on the aggravated battery charges filed against him in connection with the incident.
Prosecutors filed the charges Jan. 20 following an investigation by the Bolingbrook Police Department.
On Sept. 8, 2020, Wright was at home with his infant daughter, Bolingbrook police officials said.
Wright claimed that while his daughter was on his lap, she “kicked away” and fell about two feet onto the carpeted floor, police said.
During the fall, the child apparently hit her head on the floor and a wheel on a chair, police said. She was taken to a hospital for a head and face injury.
Prosecutors alleged in a criminal complaint that Wright “caused great bodily harm” to the child by inflicting a head injury.
The most serious charge against Wright is aggravated battery, a class X felony punishable by 6 to 30 years in prison.
Wright was also charged with aggravated domestic battery, a class 2 felony, and aggravated battery, a class 3 felony. The former offense is punishable by up to 7 years in prison while the latter carries a sentence of up to 10 years.
Following the investigation by Bolingbrook police, Judge Dave Carlson signed a $500,000 bond warrant for Wright’s arrest on Jan. 19.
Wright’s attorney, Kristine Honiotes, filed a motion to reduce his bond. Carlson allowed Wright to have a $500,000 recognizance bond over the objection of prosecutors.
Wright was taken to the Will County jail about 10:10 a.m. Monday and then released about four hours later.
