A Joliet man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly possessing over 2,300 pills of Xanax in connection with the illegal street-level sale sale of prescription drugs, New Lenox police said.

John M. Pierce, 26, of the 2300 block of White Birch Lane in Joliet, was charged with drug possession and manufacturing of a controlled substance, according to a police news release.

Police said the pills they found are valued at about $10,000.

The New Lenox Police, with help from the Will County Gang Suppression Unit, concluded an investigation into the illegal sale of prescription drugs, according to the release. Their investigation led to Pierce’s arrest after police executed a search warrant at his residence.

Pierce was booked at the Will County Jail on Wednesday.
