Darien man jailed for firing gun in Bolingbrook: cops

No one injured in the incident, no reports of property damage, police said

A Darien man was arrested for firing a gun after Bolingbrook police investigated a road rage incident on Interstate 355, police said.

About 11 a.m. Monday, officers responded to a report of a shooting, according to Bolingbrook police Lt. Anthony Columbus.

“The incident started on southbound I-355 as a road rage incident,” Columbus said, adding that the people involved “began to follow each other into Bolingbrook.”

The alleged victim told police that Kobbe Anderson, 23, had displayed what appeared to be a black handgun in the area of North Ashbury Avenue and Charlotte Lane, Columbus said.

Anderson later displayed the handgun in the 100 block of Winston Drive and fired one round into the woods on Winston Drive near Woodview Elementary School, he said.

Anderson was driving a Nissan Rouge with tinted windows and left the area driving west on Boughton Road, Columbus said.

“A shell casing was located on Winston Drive. No one was injured in the incident and there were no reports of property damage,” Columbus said.

Bolingbrook police officers commenced an in-depth investigation that led to the identification of Anderson as the offender, he said.

“Investigators, with minimal information, were successful in determining the identity and location of the offender,” Columbus said.

Anderson was stopped by Bolingbrook police officers on Thursday while driving in Darien and taken into custody, Columbus said. The firearm that was used in earlier incident was located in Anderson’s vehicle and seized by officers, he said.

Anderson was taken to the Will County jail after his arrest.
