Plainfield Police Department names ‘Officer of the Year’

‘She is a hard worker, who takes the time to get to know and relate to others’

plainfield, police

The Plainfield Police Department named Detective Amanda Felgenhauer its 2021 Officer of the Year.

The award recognizes officers whose service to the department and the village is exceptional and professional, according to a news release. The department’s officers nominate whom they consider worthy of the award.

Felgenhauer was hired by the Plainfield Police Department in 2008 and became a detective in 2020. She has 24 years of experience in the police department, having also served in Richton Park, Shorewood and Indian Head Park and at Brookfield Zoo.

During her time in Plainfield, she’s also worked as a patrol officer and property custodian. Felgenhauer also has been the lead evidence technician and serves in the same capacity on both the Will Grundy Major Crimes Task Force and the Kendall County Major Crimes Task Force.

“She is a hard worker who takes the time to get to know and relate to others,” the department said in the release. “She has been a great addition to the Investigations Division.”
